If using for extended periods or applying too much pressure, they will pulsate as a warning – and then probably stop.
Let sit to cool down and then auto re-set before using again. If they pulsate/vibrate – back off pressure or give the unit a rest to cool down.

Do I need to use water?

Maybe. Maybe not…

Here’s some very non-technical talk…

If your concrete is “hard” (isn’t all concrete hard?) use a dribble of water to keep the bit cool – but not so much that it washes away the slurry which helps keep the diamond exposed and doing its job.

If you don’t use water – well, you may be fine if the concrete is softer – but if the bit over-heats the diamond smooths and stops cutting. So, it just wears and you get a bill for excess use and the hole doesn’t get drilled…

So – we’d use water – unless you can’t because you’re inside.

A garden hose is fine – or one of these…
